ABOUT
Sydney Crutcher is a theatre artist currently based in Harrisburg, PA. She graduated in 2020 from Drake University in Des Moines, IA with a BFA in Acting and picked up many other skills along the way. Sydney prides herself on being an incredibly intellectually driven person. Her intellect has made her excellent at school and even better at witty banter. Sydney is incredibly determined and can do anything she can put her mind to from becoming a vegetarian in a family of meat eaters to masterminding a viral TikTok. This determination has also caused Sydney to develop somewhat of a competitive streak that might just help her win Survivor someday.
The pandemic has given Sydney the opportunity to take some of her hobbies and interests to the next level. After practicing yoga for her final year and a half of college, Sydney recently became a certified yoga instructor through Lifetime Fitness’ 200-hour training program. All the extra time she has been spending social distancing has allowed Sydney to indulge in her favorite hobby, watching TV. Sydney’s vast knowledge of nearly every show on Netflix makes her the perfect person to ask what TV show to watch next. (If you haven’t watched The Vampire Diaries yet, this is your sign to.) Additionally, she has had time to practice piano and guitar while flexing her composition muscles. Growing up Sydney played the cello, however piano and guitar better suit her goals as a composer and vocalist. Lastly, Sydney is a HUGE pet lover and being home has given her time to connect with her family’s multitude of cats and dogs.
Growing up, Sydney was close with her family. Her parents taught her the importance of self-awareness and accountability that she carries with pride to this day. Despite being located in different states, her family has created a book club to foster their shared love of the pursuit of knowledge and to stay in touch.
While one of Sydney’s biggest theatrical dreams came true when she got to be a newsie in Disney’s Newsies and sing the tenor 1 line, she knows that there is always space for bigger dreams and new goals. She wants to be constantly challenging the people around her to push themselves and support them in reaching their potential. Sydney wants to always be to continuing to learn and explore new things while always trying to give back and connect in meaningful ways with people. She sees this new phase of life, as she is transitioning out of being a student and into the professional world, as an opportunity to find balance in her personal life and career.
Sydney loves to talk with like minded people and would love to set up a time to chat via zoom or face-to-face post pandemic (as long as you are okay with getting ice cream instead of coffee).
